Unless you must use Apple Configurator for Mac specifically, we highly recommend that you use Apple Configurator for iOS/iPadOS instead.

Apple Configurator for Mac can be used to either add devices to Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager (ABM), or to enroll devices in MDM as supervised without using Automated Device Enrollment.

Adding Devices to Apple Business Manager/Apple School Manager

Apple Configurator for Mac can be used to add these devices to ABM:

  • iPhone

  • iPad

  • Apple TV (Ethernet models only)

Adding iPhone or iPad

You must completely erase a device to add it to Apple Business Manager.

  1. Open Apple Configurator on your Mac and connect the device to your Mac with a USB cable

  2. If the device has not yet been erased, right-click on the device when it appears in Apple Configurator and choose Restore or Erase All Content and Settings

    • Restore will download a fresh copy of the latest version of iOS and reinstall it on the device

    • Erase All Content and Settings is quicker as it does not reinstall the device's operating system

  3. TODO finish this
